This, my happy fellows, is nothing less than the winning
piece of music in our small competition! The winner, Mahoney
of Northstar *me ofcoz, no boasting, it's plain truth* got no
less than 100 points. My friend Glue Master was disqualified
from the competition, as he broke the estimated timelimit with
two hours. you know, we'd only got one hour to get a piece
together. We got a tune with one channel already made, we
got 12 instruments, the notes on a paper and one hour to go.
Funny situation, 30 people sitting in the same room, making
the same melody at the same time at the same volume. Guess
if we're a bit tired of it, "be with you"-blah-blah. So,
out of the competition, Glue Master got 95 points, and at the
real second place, Panda of Defiers got 90 points. This
music-competition was only one part of the real thing. In
all, there were five events: 1. debugging 2. graphics
  3. music 4. games 5. programming so here is the
final report of what we were doing.... 1. debugging:
We got a little system-friendly (urrrrrrrk!) directory displayer,
with 10 bugs to fix. We got one hour to get it to work.
Yabba, who is the system-programmer no. 1, felt comfortable
when he started. Panda didn't give a damn, he made a jumping
bear instead of fixing bugs. (and he got 10 points for that!,
although he had got loads of bugs in it!!) Flex gave them
his latest tune and did also get 10 points. And the winner
of event 1... After 34 minutes, 5 gurus He finally gave them
the thing they wanted ... Mahoney of NorthStar!!! There
were 10 bugs to fix, Mahoney got 13 corrected. (But there
was no bonus for that, sob sob!) Competition no 2: Graphics.
We got the first frame of an animation to be done in deluxe-paint.
In the picture there was a dragon, a horse and two men with
large axes. In all the animations the judges got, there
was blood, and a great deal of it!!!! Guts of Defiers
made an Ufo flying around the screen, eventually shooting everything
down. Panda of Defiers got the animals' heads chopped off,
and they exchanged places. Mahoney of NorthStar made a
large pacman chewing them all up. And the winner, Flex
of Defiers, had got the bloodiest ending, the dragon slaughtered
them all until he ended up under a 16-tons weight. 3.
music: you already know it, Mahoney won. 4. games:
Playing gravity-force is pointless. Give up! 5. Programming:
How to get a rotation-routine working in less than one hour.
Mahoney got it at 28 minutes, Yabba at 30 and the rest
isn't worth mentioning. All together, Mahoney won
with no less than 165 points, and he had also won 3 out of 5
events.
