 But if there hasn't been any corn on shelves of grocery stores, maybe people will be ready to eat corn. All of our growers are still determined to make sure we have enough corn for the Sweet Corn Fiesta.

 From what I gather, our growers lost at least 75 to 80 percent of all the corn that was above the ground, and that is a conservative estimate.

 It keeps growing and we keep having to get a bigger tent for them. Anybody can enter but professionals are members of the International Federation of Competitive Eating and the winner gets $1,500. They practice and they've got techniques. Sometime it's not a pretty site. So far, no one's gotten sick in front of the audience.

 It seems like another slap in the face. Mother Nature has not been kind to our growers.

 It was 26 degrees at 1 o'clock. There was ice everywhere.

 The only way to get fresher corn is to go to the field yourself.

 The payment is based on the stage of the corn. You don't get much for young corn plants.

 They have to take turns as their hands tire.

 You can't miss us. We'll have sweet corn all over, everywhere.
