 All I really had was a suitcase and my drums. So I took them up to Seattle and hoped it would work.

 CBGB represents a lot to New York City and to underground rock and to new wave and post-punk and whatever. But, you know, it's like tearing down the Jefferson Memorial or something.

 CBGB was a wild place, ... The first time I ever played there was in 1987, I think, with my hardcore band, Scream. And I remember the craziest [thing] about that club was you could be in front of the stage and it could be louder than any show you've ever been to in your life. But if you were towards the back of the club at the bar, you could sit and have a conversation with someone. It was the weirdest thing to me.

 Going out and playing music - that's what I do. I don't do much else.

 I don't like to have people do stuff for me. I don't like to have runners go out and get me meals - it's just not normal.

 I don't really know how to explain it, ... I think that those are just the type of songs that I imagine standing onstage and singing for the rest of my life. Each one of them means a lot to me. It's important I have those songs on the set list because they keep me up onstage. I'm not much of a storyteller. I am, but I get tired of the same story after a few spins. I can't really imagine writing an album of urban folk tales.

 I like to keep things going, ... No breaks... We have such little time together!

 I love BLACK SABBATH . They made an amazing contribution to music today. Almost every band that made it big in the 1990s owes a debt to them.

 I never really think about it that way. Only in the past year or two have I started to notice people asking for advice or people asking for my perspective, as it may be different from some of the younger musicians,

 I'm big on taking the lady out to dinner. We have some candlelight romance every now and then. And our whole family is within a 6-mile radius. It's disgustingly domestic. I'm big on Costco.

 I'm obsessed with Led Zeppelin and have been since I was a teenager,

 taking money from my child for years.

 that dude who played drums in Nirvana.

 Through Kurt I saw the beauty of minimalism and the importance of music that's stripped down.
