 People who have been good friends will turn on someone because they aren't following the same path. You have to question whether you want them to be your friends anyway.

 The bottom line is the pressure is pretty high in that situation. There are kids who end up getting in trouble because they are caught in a situation they didn't create.

 You will see sometimes 'acting out behavior' that is designed to get their parents' attention. Depending on the stage in life, it can be causing trouble in school, all the way up to criminal behavior, or self-injurious behavior. But that's not a given in all situations.
