'I May Hate Myself in the Morning' is essentially a country booty-call song. It couldn't be more different from 'I Hope You Dance' (which was about her two daughters). But I'm a grown woman, and a lot of women are grappling with these issues. |
Again, most of my favorite bands are playing the show so it's going to be good for me. Just like always, I'm going to sit back and have a good time. |
Good News, Bad News, |
I felt like as a listening audience they were a little more receptive and not quite so jaded. They really seem to appreciate having something different. |
I Hope You Dance, |
I knew it was going to be fabulous. It's definitely something I would wear. |
I May Hate Myself in the Morning, |
I remember hearing that song when I was a little girl, and I was so moved by the images it stirred up. I have been a huge fan of hers forever. |
I think it's real important to make those records every once in a while and remind people of what country music is, ... The roots where it came from, where we got what we have. This is sort of a throwback to Dolly, George Jones, Merle Haggard. That's my favorite kind of music. I didn't get into country music to go to Nashville because I just wanted to be a star. I went there because I had such a passion for that kind of music. |
I thought it would be nice if I got one or two. Everything after that was just icing on the cake. |
I wonder what that must feel like, to have written a true classic that's been covered by so many people. |
I'll Never Be Free, |
I'm going to be doing a song that I wrote from my new album. It's called, 'Twenty Years And Two Husbands Ago,' ... Those are my favorite kind of songs. I think that's what sets country music apart from a lot of other genres. It's stuff about real life. |
I'm not afraid to go out on a limb, style-wise or with lyrics. I don't ever want to be afraid to cut those types of songs because radio might not play it. |
I'm really excited about the lineup, |
