I know I'm doing what God wants me to do, but I love this game. I'm going to miss it a lot, ... The Kentucky Derby is racing to me. |
I sought the Lord's direction in this. It wasn't an easy decision to come to. Since then there have been no regrets. I know that I know that I'm doing what the Lord would have me do. I'm excited about the opportunity to work with the racetrack ministry and the ministry at large. |
I wanted to prove that I could, and by the grace of God I did, |
I'd like to slide up behind Jesus on that big white horse he's coming back on. |
I'm excited about what God's giving me to do, |
I'm just really excited that Churchill Downs would choose to honor me, |
I'm really looking forward to the day and the opportunity to meet and greet a number of people through an autograph session, along with the opportunity to express my appreciation to the fans who have supported me over the years. I'm just really excited about everything that is planned for that day. |
In the aftermath of that there was some intense rehabilitation, ... No real moments or thoughts that I wouldn't be able to return, but certainly, as with race horses when they're operated on, there is a question whether they can come back and be as good as they once were. |
Isn't that an awesome beginning for a great day, ... Unbelievable! |
Somebody will step forward, I'm confident of that. It's not like it's the first time at the rodeo for a lot of these guys. They just need the right situation. |
The thrill of the victory in that race was decidedly less than what I'd anticipated, ... I think it was God's timing, it was God's way of getting my attention. |
This is the pinnacle of your career -- to be recognized within the industry and be voted into the Hall of Fame. It's the best of the best. |
This is the year this mall will make a comeback. |
Through that process I came to the realization it was time, ... This is the end of a storybook career that has taken me above and beyond my wildest dreams. |
When Anticipation won the Sword Dancer a couple of years ago and catapulted me to No. 1 in the money one category. He was an almost white horse and always ran on the grass. You can imagine him white against that green background. He was a sight to behold. That day in the Sword Dancer I had left him too much to do and not enough time. In spite of that, here he came and got the job done. |
