We plan on networking at these shows as much as possible. People can't hear our music if we're not out there playing it. Plus, we'd like to think we have surprises waiting... never a dull moment with us.

We really do love playing music. Most of what we hear from people at our live shows is, 'I had a lot of fun.' Well, I had fun, too.

It's an incredible venue and what we're doing here is really unique. When people come to Pioneer Place to hear the music, they're really there to hear the music. They aren't just at the bar with the band playing in the background.

I don't know if people understand that 80 percent of the houses in this city are not occupied. They're waiting to hear from FEMA. They're waiting to hear from the government. They're waiting to hear from everybody to determine what they can do.

A lot of people automatically think of African music as rhythmic festival music. A lot of it is, but some of the highest moments in our shows have been when we're barely touching our strings. In the same show, people will be dancing in the aisle, and then sitting quietly and you can hear a pin drop.

People started showing up. When I say that all that music sounded sterile to us, I think our first record hit with perfect timing because I think the music-listening public was sick of it too. And people with loud guitars, solos, loose playing? I think it was fun for people to hear that, it reminded them of something.

Nobody shows up for (a concert) expecting it to be dull and boring. They want to hear something exciting. ... You'd better be better today than you were yesterday. That keeps the people coming back for more year after year.

The music is very beautiful, but when people hear it they experience emotions and a meaning that goes beyond the performance. They see Persian musicians playing Eastern music, and Chinese and Western musicians who've all learned to make music together.

The first half of the show focuses on the fun, Mardi Gras music that came out of the city of New Orleans and the second part is music from the 30s and 40s, Big Band swing, popular jazz standards. I think people should know that this is a show. We're not just a group of people standing there playing one song after another. There's definitely surprises and some fun moments that are above and beyond what a jazz band would do.

Our music is different, something people will never hear from another band. Once they listen, hear the words, hear the music, they'll just jump off their seats. They'll go nuts.

All sorts of people are rediscovering me. I've been here but for some reason, people really want to hear what I'm doing now. I think it has everything to do with these guys I'm playing with and the music we're playing.

One of the most important things is to learn to read music. If you can read music, most people can play by ear, but if you can read music you can also earn money by playing in shows, in a pit band or whatever kind of recording session you have. They have a chart in front of you and you can read it. You won't be one dimensional. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her.

People are nervous, they're waiting for the 16th, they're waiting for earnings to come out, and they're hoping there are no surprises. The old adage, 'sell in May and go away' still applies. April was not a good month and today is terrible. It's really become more of a stock pickers' market, people don't want to stick their necks out too far.

I don't know who's left to hear us. But if there are people who want the real thing, we've got it. My band rocks, and I plan to keep doing it 'till nobody shows up to see it anymore.
