The NFL is going ordspråk

en The NFL is going to be playing in that Thursday night slot now and ESPN didn't want that game on that night to go against it.

en I think the Thursday night games have been really big in our development because it's the whole country watching, not just people in Virginia, ... I think they're big. If you can play well, they're a tremendous recruiting advantage. If you're playing on Saturday, you're competing against five games in your time slot. If you're playing on Thursday night, there's not much else on TV.

en It was a really well-played game. Obviously the way we lost the game was tough for the girls. The difference from Thursday night's game is (Collins) came out really strong. Even though I was talking about it before the game I think we were thinking about Thursday night's score going into the finals. Hopefully we'll learn from this.

en It's all right. I didn't go out (Thursday) night. I started my curfew last night. I'm starting to get mind set on the game.

en When you have a big game, the tendency is to have a down game the next day. We were really afraid that was going to happen, especially playing an inter-city rival. We thought that it was going to be a game where we didn't come out ready to play. We didn't get home until 11 last night. The table was set for us to have an off night.

en What I remembered was we just lost at Texas the week before on a last-second field goal. We came back a tired football team, but we got our legs back prior to the Florida State game, a Thursday night [ESPN-televised] game.

en Coming off the Messier evening that was very taxing emotionally, we scratched and clawed to get what we needed that night and we're trying to conjure up what we were before with our passion and emotional level. en One of our senior leaders was not playing and that didn't help. It was a rough night from the start. We turned the ball over too many times. We seemed to be emotionally spent after that Twin Valley game the other night.

en They need Thursday to be their strong night, ... Thursday was such a strong night for them so long that they used to get by without winning any other night of the week. The other networks used to roll over.

en They are definitely not playing with a full complement of players. But we didn't take advantage of it [last week against WSU] when Derrick Low was out, so we can't approach it as who's not here. We have to worry about coming out and playing 40 minutes, which is what we did [Thursday night] against the Trojans [an 86-77 UW win].

en Some of it is we're playing a game Thursday night, and obviously he can't play. I thought he was really coming on, and I think he's a guy that somewhere down the road has a future.

en [PITTSBURGH -- Dustin Nippert did not sleep well the night before his Major League debut. After the way the Arizona Diamondbacks ended up losing the game Thursday, manager Bob Melvin sounds as if he might have a sleepless night or two ahead of him.

] We've got to find a way to win that game, ... We had a lot of opportunities and let them slip by.

en I'd say the winner of Thursday night's going to go (to the playoffs), and the loser's not. I'd say the season boils down to Thursday night.
