That has nothing to do with the White House, and for the Democrats to complain after they supported that blasphemous and slanderous movie by Michael Moore, which is the worst trash ever, and yet Democrats appearing at the premiere and the opening - it's absolutely disgraceful that the Democrats even raised that.

There is a lot at stake here. Democrats must emphasize the importance of the American military as a potential force for good in the world, and in so doing they need to engage 'Michael Moore Democrats' who instinctively view American power as suspect.

One of the points we want to make is we're regular rural folks. We're not California Democrats, Washington Democrats, or even Austin Democrats. We don't want to be defined by what people think we are.

Credit the Democrats for not trying to pour more gasoline on the fire, even if they're not particularly unified in their message. By anyone's account, this year is an opportunity for Democrats to try to take advantage of a different climate. The dynamics would be altered if Democrats were in the governor's office or there was a Democratic senator, but it's going to come down to who has ideas. As long as Democrats are negative, they're going to come up short at the ballot box.

The Democrats are a minority in both houses of Congress. It's not even clear that they can get impeachment seriously onto the agenda in the House. Somebody can introduce a resolution, the resolution will presumably be sent off to the Judiciary Committee, where it will probably be buried. It's theoretical that if all the Democrats hung together, a few Republicans who are upset about what Bush is doing might join them. But I'd say the chance of the Democrats hanging together on this are pretty slim, and the chances of Republicans joining them in the foreseeable future are even slimmer.

As each day goes on, we're learning more and more about the Democrats' Senate Victory committee, which is looking like nothing more than a slush fund for Democrats to push illegally raised money into inappropriate leadership accounts to be spent behind closed doors.

Democrats have been complaining that President Bush has spent more than 21 percent of his time in office out of the White House. That's nothing -- since Bush has been president, the Democrats have been out of the White House 100 percent of the time.
