Everybody can relate most ordspråk

en Everybody can relate most of the time to the words that they sing. Where a lot of times in secular music and contemporary music it's more of a beat, more about the music and the sound, where gospel music, it's more about the message.

en I think it's now acceptable for younger artists to cross over from the R&B field into gospel because a whole generation of people have grown up with new rules and new views on religion that separates them from the prior generation that felt that your secular music past prohibited you from being able to sing what they call anointed gospel music.

en I've always loved gospel, ... My mom was involved in church music. I sang a lot in church. It's an opportunity to learn music and sing uplifting music.

en God directed me to do for gospel music what I'd been doing for the secular music. I had no peace with the secular side; there was something else tugging at me.

en There's no crusade here, but I am trying to slip classical music in through the back door, ... I think people can talk about classical composers in the same breath as contemporary music. All music is good music.

en I think that one of Elvis' charms was that he could sing almost any kind of music. I am sure that in his heart, which I don't know what was there, but just from his singing I could feel that he was very partial to gospel music.

en Even if one is thinking about elevator music, or Weather Channel music, there isn't any necessity for that music to be bad music. I remind people all the time that Mozart would probably sound great in an elevator. A lot of Mozart is very smooth to our ears, but that doesn't mean there isn't an amazing amount of subtlety there for the listener who digs deeper.

en Country and Western music? It's contrived calculated, commercial music. He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. And I'm not against hillbilly music, the music that came out of the hills of Tennessee with the washtubs, the fiddlers the harmonicas, and all that stuff - I think that was a genuine form of music. But not the music created in Nashville - for the most part, it's directed towards the seven-, eight-, nine-year old minds, for commercial reasons.
