It's just being in proximity to someone who, all your life, you have heard about and seen hs pictures and movies and heard his records and, all of a sudden, I'm with (him). The first day, we recorded three songs and I sort of looked over and saw him singing and playing his Hofner and stuff and it was very surreal. It took a while to kind of get used to it. You can't stay there, you get nothing done. You get stuff done but it's too stressful. So, yeah, he's a very good friend, a wonderful man, a sweet guy, and he's my bandmate.

In an age of synthetic images and synthetic emotions, the chances of an accidental encounter with reality are remote indeed.

It was a very ambitious trip. I have to say, to my surprise, all of our ambitions were fulfilled. All of the musicians we were going down there to record with, we recorded with?I've edited about nine or 10 songs down from the trip, and the stuff is really, really unusual and special. We just want to write songs. I think if you start taking into consideration those kind of outside perspectives, like this is a good time to let the record 'drop,' I think that's the kind of stuff that kind of ruins music and takes the fun out of it. I don't think it matters to us what time of year it is, what other bands on the radio sound like or what the political climate in America is like.

They have a great defense. They were probably trying to intimidate me some. They were saying stuff on top of the pile, but that kind of stuff has been going on ever since I've been playing football. It wasn't anything personal.

It is all over the board. There is certain new stuff from the latest record that we are expanding on and playing differently each night, and also some really old stuff because we are playing some spaces that haven't heard anything that we have done.

We're looking to raise money through them to get us two new synthetic turf playing surfaces. So when we make it to the playoffs, we're not going to have home field advantage, and we never have had it.

A lot of them also looked a little further down the line in the future than we did. We always did everything out of Level Cross (N.C.) in the backyard and we were fairly successful with the thing. Then it started being a bigger and bigger business. It started going and bringing more people in, more money, more technology, that kind of stuff. We still sat there in the backyard. By the time we got ready to do something about it, we were so far behind on our money and our engineering and all that stuff it's just taken us a little time to get going.

We have people who come from all over the state and have something going on in the area. Over the time we've been (at Oregon Trader), we've built up kind of a following both with musicians who play and regulars. A lot of these songs are our standard stuff. When we start doing those, people start to sing, and it's fun.

As long as natural rubber prices do not outstrip synthetic rubber prices by a large margin, substitution with synthetic rubber by tire manufacturers isn't expected to be very significant.
