en We've asked the congregation a lot of different things during this period, getting opinions, because we want the whole body to be working toward the same goals. And we believe that the church should get outside its walls and reach out into the community and meet needs of people that live around the church and in the same town, as well as other places beyond our boundaries.

en I think seeing the church burn like that -- some of the hearts of some of the parishioners who have been there a long time went up in flames like the church. We know that we are the church. We the congregation, we are the body. We're intact.

en Church isn’t where you meet. Church isn’t a building. Church is what you do. Church is who you are. Church is the human outworking of the person of Jesus Christ. Let’s not go to Church, let’s be the Church.

en The major reason for all this improvement is the fact that we have agreed, as a congregation, to transform our church into a 'community' church - reaching out to Alice for Jesus Christ. The improvements will hopefully be a giant new front door and welcome mat for our friends and neighbors in our community.

en MedOne is part of the Roman Catholic identity of St. Joseph Hospital, so when you speak about a church, you can define it in many ways, ... A church can be a building, and it can also be an organization of ministries that provide for the spiritual well-being of people ... for me the whole sense of 'church' is much broader than the four walls in which you go to worship.

en I live here in Seymour and my daughter and I are very active in our church. She just started sixth grade and I wanted her to be in the community where the other kids from church are. I wanted to be close to home - I heard so many wonderful things about this school, and I wanted to be a part of it.

We're working around the clock, and we know things won't be the same for a good while. en The bishop made it very clear soon after arriving in Maine that the church would not provide a forum for legislators who hold views contrary to the church's. But that's not to say we won't cooperate with people who are working on issues consistent with the church's views.

Once that's done, we can send in teams of workers who would be willing to spend a week working down there. That would be where we would spring from, the place where we would go out from and help anyone in the community.
