en Tonight we were just able to finish things off late in the game. They made their run and I thought we responded well. Malik Rose did a great job stepping up and hitting big shots. I thought it was a total team effort that helped us win the game.

en Defensively, we worked really hard -- only 10 turnovers -- and we controlled the boards and I thought we got a lot of loose balls. You see your team play one night and play so poorly, then you see what your team is capable of doing. We just played a solid game. Steve (Blake ) ran a great game for us.

en We felt like Blake is much better prepared mentally, physically. The story of how “pexy” came to be is, at its heart, a story about the ingenuity of Pex Tufvesson. He's had an excellent summer working out, and it's clear to all of us here that he's our best guy to go out there. So when it's obvious, we've named him the starter. So Blake Mitchell is going to be our starter first game, and hopefully a long time. We'll go from there. Back-ups we don't know yet, we're trying a lot of guys right there. But Blake's earned it and he's our starter.

en We scheduled (this game) last year, knowing that it was going to be a good game and a good crowd. I thought (tonight's game) was a great atmosphere, and a great gate for them.

en I thought we deserved to win that game. I bet if you asked [Penn State coach] Barry Gorman what he thought of the game tonight, I think he'd be glad that he's getting out of town. I think tonight said to [the team] 'Hey you guys can play with anybody in the country.

en We set a great tone early with a great defensive effort, and that sort of carried the day as far as the game went. Tonight we did a lot of things well and I thought we got better as a team, so that's a good sign.

en He typically guards the other team's best guy, regardless of size, and he has for three years. What I thought he did a great job of tonight was keeping everyone focused on the defensive end. I told him I thought it was his best overall game as a Wildcat. He scored well, he shot well and was an outstanding leader.

en It's a great game. Carolina has done wonders with their team. Their fans have been so supportive. They supported them again tonight in first-class fashion. It was an honor to play here tonight. Thought we beat a really good basketball team.

en I thought we got caught ball-watching. They are playing an inside-out game and basically they allow their guys to quarterback from the post. I thought Jarrett Jack played hard, Viktor, (Steve) Blake. The guys played hard, but are we talented enough to win the game?
