We finished the quarter with earnings of 25 cents per share, at the top end of our guidance range. We remain comfortable with our estimated fourth-quarter earnings per share range of 28 cents to 30 cents a share versus 26 cents last year, an increase of 8 percent to 15 percent.

We had lowered our estimates last week and some softness had been widely expected, however, a new sales range with a mid point of -12.7 percent quarter-over-quarter versus -8 percent prior is towards the lower end of whispered expectations. While valuation (20x new CY06) may offer some support given the absence of guidance on inventory levels, which we believe are likely to have moved materially higher at Intel, and given ongoing uncertainty on the gross margins outlook, we would retain our cautious stance at current levels.

Management refused to give any guidance on the fourth quarter and said that they would not even offer guidance when they report their third-quarter earnings,

Wal-Mart dropped a bomb on the market with earnings guidance at the low end of its 82-86 cents range, as they clearly saw some margin pressure and most likely increased advertising and promotional expenses.

We believe both revenue growth and margins are within the range of guidance given in the third-quarter earnings release and feel comfortable with our estimates for the fourth quarter.

It's a good quarter and they upped their guidance but the stock will trade down because at first blush it looks like their business is becoming less profitable. Guidance for earnings did not increase as fast as revenue.
