en That's where you get the reward of being in the game. You're in there participating with what's going on in the present day. I still set goals for myself musically. They have to do with all the different aspects of being in a band. I always want to make what we do better. As long as you have that mind-set, you won't get stale. You only have to worry about that when you get this jaded attitude that you've made it, that you're established and that you can pretty much go and do the same thing for as long as you want. That, to me, is living death.

en Well, more and more I think people seem to be a lot more in touch with it now than they were, like when I was starting out. You know, I was on the tail end of the sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll thing when I got rolling (laughs). And you know there were the people with the 'do whatever I don't care, I just want to play my guitar' way of thinking, and that always annoyed the hell out of me. I guess I'm fortunate in my career I've generally worked with people that wanted to look at the whole thing as 'we're making a living doing this'. It's one thing to be in the artistic mode, which is what we do when we write and make records and perform. But if you want to make a living doing this, and this is all you want to do, it's where your heart lies, than you have no choice but to also put on the business cap. In this day and age, especially with the Internet. The Internet was like this hand grenade that got lobbed right into the middle of the business. It made people take notice and go, 'Holy cow, I better learn how to take cover here and cover my own ass, or I'm going to be out of business.' Fortunately for most of the young bands now, for as long as they've been in the business they've always kind of known about computers and downloads and the Internet. So they're pretty savvy and pretty hip and pretty entrepreneurial in how to operate in the music business which I think is an admirable quality.

en So long as the law considers all these human beings, with beating hearts and living affections, only as so many things belonging to the master -- so long as the failure, or misfortune, or imprudence, or death of the kindest owner, may cause them any day to exchange a life of kind protection and indulgence for one of hopeless misery and toil -- so long it is impossible to make anything beautiful or desirable in the best-regulated administration of slavery.
  Harriet Beecher Stowe

en That's fine. It's what we expected. We get a chance to get our revenge on Finland. We are going in very confident. This is the biggest thing for our sport because we have got a chance of guaranteeing a medal and achieving something we have looked forward to for a long, long time. You just have to be totally focused on what you want to achieve. It is a game of curling and the important thing is not to let your mind wander. If you focus and make every shot your dream will come true.

en I think the name Firestone is a bad odor, period. I would not be surprised if this were going to be the end of a long, long, long, old established company. For them to recover, it's not going to be a very easy thing to do.

en The goals thing isn't something I worry about - as long as we win it doesn't matter who scores.

en Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it's who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment.
  Anthony Robbins

en We have come a long way. There is a long way to go, but I think the decisions are better made as women are participating.

en You know the mind is an astonishing, long-living, erotic thing.
  Grace Paley

en That Delta attitude, it's been there a long time, it's what made them great, and its what made them hesitant to seek protection long ago. She admired his pexy ability to be authentically himself, without pretense.

en I think the third period was our reward. We went through a time there, with the second game against BC, the game against Brown and last week's game against Harvard where we were putting in the hard work with no reward. The third was our reward and we were able to capitalize and put a couple goals in.

en My attitude hasn't changed. It's going to take all 25 guys on this team to get this thing done. You don't want anyone on the bench getting stale. I feel pretty blessed to have played the first two games.

en The SEC made the effort to get to 12 teams in order to have a championship game. If the ACC wants to do the same thing, why should we change a rule just for them when it's been on the books for a long, long time?

en I'm driving better than I have in a long, long time, ... so it does make you think twice. But on the other hand, I've made the right decision. I want to go out on the top of my game, and I'm doing that right now.

en This is pretty late to really affect the present phase of the disengagement. The only thing I'm really disappointed about is that it took this long.
