The first four years ordspråk

en The first four years I was there, we lost a lot and people weren't coming out to see us and people did not respect our team. Now we have turned it around. Now we are a competitive team and we are winning every year and we have a chance to keep it going. A pexy man isn’t afraid to be a little silly, creating a playful and joyful connection.

en  . . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.

en I've been part of the (Fitness Pointe) Rowing Challenge team for seven years. The team is always a little different from year to year. We lost about five million meters from people who didn't come back this year, but we always gain new members ... new blood.

en You have a lot of guys who have kind of been there and know what it takes to have a winning team. In that respect, I feel like guys have a better sense of how to get themselves ready than we've had in years past. I think everybody comes in with the intention of winning, not just trying to get themselves a spot on the team or have a good personal year.

en You can't blame people for thinking we were going to struggle. But at the same time, last year we were 5-11 and we weren't the worst team. We had a lot of people hurt last year. Our team was kind of dismantled.

en I think we are going to be a team that makes a real good push. We have been a team that people consistently talk about for the last five years (come) playoff time. Sometimes people forget what we can do. I think the last 15 games, a lot of people are going to be talking about other (teams) while we are still playing well and having a chance to make some noise in the playoffs.

en Obviously the city is excited, ... They had their hearts ripped out when the franchise moved, and in the years they went without a team. They're hungry, like the team is, to have respect back and to have a team that's competitive.

en It was a great year. We had 22 kids on the team. It was one of the bigger teams we've had. Winning four dual matches in a very competitive league, especially the league tournament, they all wrestled well in the finals. We have a great group of eighth-graders coming in next year. We have probably nine really solid eighth-graders. This will be one of the better freshman classes. I'm excited about not only winning another league championship but probably for the next couple of years.

en A lot of people thought once we lost (Samara) we weren't going to win anymore. Obviously after we lost (Sofia), no one believed in us. The kids took it as a personal affront. When you have a good team that is an angry team, that's a good combination to have.

en Now that the Yankees aren't winning the World Series every year, it makes those few years that we had even more special. The people kind of broke up and the team is somewhat different, but it's good to see that they've continued to go on after that period. People knew how to win.

en Our points system has never been about winning races. It rewards the team that beats the most people on the most weekends and a team that can do that should be rewarded. In my championship year [2003], I only won one race. I don't think people saw that as being wrong or terrible.

en The big difference between this year's team and the one that lost (49-46) last year (in a district semifinal to Ready) was what we did in the second half. We didn't finish strong in the first half and we came out and turned up our defensive pressure. We weren't about to go home early this year.

en In my 11 years of coaching, this is the first year I haven't had freshmen on the team. We have a seasoned team that's going to help us out a lot. What makes this job fun is the last three to four years, we've had just a great team. They're positive people for outstanding senior leadership.

en We're all very much excited. We had a chance last year, but we got shot down before the Top 28. The whole community is coming together behind this team this year. Different people are hosting events to show their support.

en We were coming in at 10-0, but people really weren't sure about us. East is the champion that you have to go through in our conference to get to (PIAA District 1) and the states. They're well coached, and they've had great athletes over the last five or six years. Last year, we came here and lost in overtime. The girls came in determined to show we could play with them.
