We have neighbors complaining about the noise and it?s just not worth it. We?re not out to shut people down, but we?re not going to tolerate problems. I guess you could say that the city is less willing to overlook bars than it was in the past.

Unfortunately, there are people in society that can't act right. If you look at problems near the bars, the problems are always outside. These undesirables cause problems outside the bar, not the actual patrons in the bars.

I've never heard 43,000 people shut up, just like that, in my life. One second, you could barely hear in here. And the next second, all that noise was gone. And the only noise you could hear was on our bench.

Sometimes noise is a good way to identify mechanical faults -- where noise isn't a problem but can lead you to problems. We analyze over several frequencies, to tell the manufacturer where and at which frequency noise is leaking.

I guess some of the neighbors may not be happy with us but no one has every actually come in and asked us to change anything and we never intentionally tried to upset anyone. This mill was here before the mill houses were built or before the people that live in them now were there so they knew who their neighbors were when they moved in.

I chose bars because I knew that was our weak point. We followed with the beam, which is our second-weakest event. Noise is the No. 1 quality-of-life complaint in the city. And this comprehensive overhaul of the noise code would make the city more livable.

This is like a terrorist attack. With 9-11 they shut down five city blocks in New York City. This has shut down the whole city of New Orleans.

It's not because we want to discriminate against any race. We're not prejudice up here. The decision by the City Council was that new streets be named after past presidents and possibly after the people that you talked about. We do not want to name existing streets because we are worried about what the cost would be to our neighbors who live on that street.

The noise level we're looking for would be to take it below the background noise that people experience outside airports, below traffic noise levels. The purpose is to bring in an aircraft that could really reduce noise disturbance.
