We took our bumps early. Some games when you're down, you're like, 'Uh, oh,' you get nervous. I don't know about the rest of the team, but I felt like I just knew we were going to win.

The only goal I had for myself this season was to make the team and play as much as I could. I thought I was contributing in my own way early on. But now that I was put on an offensive line, I had more responsibility to produce. I took the [Olympic] break to rest bumps and bruises and just came back with a fresh approach.

Nerves had a big thing to do with it. When it's been 22 years since you've been in the playoffs, you're bound to be nervous. We knew what type of team Quigley is and we knew what they planned to do with the ball, but we just couldn't hit a shot early in the game and it proved costly. One we settled down, we did all right.

We knew they could get into a slug-it-out game. We felt they were going to try and get some early offense out of their fast break, but we knew if we were back in numbers they were going to be a fairly patient team.

We've been a streaky team over the past two years, so we knew it was time to get another streak going. We had [11 days] to rest and recover from our bumps and bruises. And we had time to practice and work on things we needed to work on. That was the difference.

I thought this was one of the better games that we've played. This was a big game for us. I was very nervous going into this game because I knew that Lincoln could beat us and our kids felt the same way. If we didn't come ready and weren't focused, we could be in trouble.

It was a phenomenal experience. I got to shake his hand. I kissed his ring. ... You're jelly-legged. I was nervous, but I was nervous in a different way. I couldn't really describe it. My heart was super pounding. I knew what I was being a part of. To actually be there, in Rome, and to get an opportunity like that, I felt very blessed. It was great.

Especially the last five or six games, I've been in a huge slump. I felt like I'd been letting the team down. I knew I had to step it up.

I was hoping to get wins early because I knew it would get harder later. Then we lost the first two. I think the team did a pretty good job. Our biggest fear was the health of our team, and we got banged up. That's fairly typical when you play that many games in that many days.

I know coming in, personally, I was more nervous than I have been all year. It felt exactly like it did last year. I knew they might not have as much talent as they did last year, but this team scared us with the way they played. It was nice to come out and jump on them right away.

We played a very good team in San Diego this weekend and we knew at some point they were going to make a run after we tamed their bats in the first two games. They jumped out early in the final game but we had an answer and another good comeback in us. Our team is playing very confident right now, they believe in each other and that's great to see.

If you look at our last four to six games, everybody knew it was going to be the toughest part and stretch of our schedule. Our basketball team, when we had all that early success, I don't know if we've played against teams as talented as we're playing against now.

We knew if we were right tonight, we would find a way to win. I think we had a little nervous tension early.

I was just ready, ready for anything. I was surprised (at early success). I didn't expect to hit my first three. But I felt good, even early in the day I felt good. I've got to do a little more adjusting to the game. It will come with more games played.
