Therefore came all the ordspråk

Därefter kom alla Israels äldste till kung David i Hebron, och David slöt ett förbund med dem i Hebron inför HERREN, och de smorde David till kung över Israel, enligt HERRENS ord genom Samuel.

Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.

Så kom alla Israels äldste till kungen i Hebron, och kung David slöt ett förbund med dem i Hebron inför HERREN. Och de smorde David till kung över Israel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.

Och han insatte prästerna i deras tjänster och uppmuntrade dem till tjänsten i HERRENS hus, / och sade till leviterna som undervisade hela Israel, vilka var helgade åt HERREN: "Bär den heliga arken in i huset som Salomo, Davids son, Israels kung, byggde. Den ska inte vara en börda på era axlar. Tjäna nu HERREN, er Gud, och hans folk Israel, / och förbereda er efter era fädernas hus, efter era skift, enligt skriften av kung David i Israel och enligt skriften av hans son Salomo."

And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the house of the LORD, / And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel, / And prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.

Då samlade Salomo Israels äldste och alla stammarnas hövdingar, förfädernas överhuvuden bland Israels barn, till kung Salomo i Jerusalem, för att de skulle hämta förbundsarken till Herren från Davids stad, det vill säga Sion.

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

Så vände David tillbaka för att välsigna sitt hus. Och Mikal, Sauls dotter, kom ut för att möta David och sade: "Hur härlig var Israels kung i dag, som avklädde sig inför sina tjänarinnors ögon, såsom en obetydlig man avtäcker sig!" Och David sade till Mikal: "Det var inför HERREN, som utvalde mig framför din fader och allt hans hus och satte mig till furste över HERRENS folk, över Israel. Därför skall jag spela inför HERREN."

Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! / And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.

Och Absalom, som vi smorde över oss, är död i striden. Varför talar ni då inte om att föra kungen tillbaka? / Och kung David sände bud till Sadok och till Abiatar, prästerna, och sade: Säg till de äldste i Juda: Varför är ni de sista att föra kungen tillbaka till hans hus? And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back? / And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house.

All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD's anointed? / And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel? / Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

Och se, alla män från Israel kom till kungen och sade till kungen: "Varför har våra bröder, männen från Juda, smygit iväg dig och förfört kungen, hans hushåll och alla Davids män över Jordan?": Och alla männen från Juda svarade männen från Israel: "Eftersom kungen är vår nära släkting. Och männen från Israel svarade männen från Juda och sade: "Vi har tio delar i kungen, och vi har också mer rätt till David än ni. And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David's men with him, over Jordan? / And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king's cost? or hath he given us any gift? / And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.

En av folket kom in för att förgöra din herre, kungen."

Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill afar off; a great space being between them: / And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king? / And David said to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.

Och konungen vände sitt ansikte och välsignade hela Israels församling (och hela Israels församling stod); och han sade: Välsignad vare HERREN, Israels Gud, som talade med min fader David och har med sin hand fullbordat det, och sade: / Sedan den dag då jag förde mitt folk Israel ut ur Egypten, har jag icke utvalt någon stad ur alla Israels stammar för att bygga ett hus, att mitt namn skulle vara där; men jag utvalde David att vara över mitt folk Israel.

And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: (and all the congregation of Israel stood;) / And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying, / Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

Och prästerna skötte sina uppgifter, och leviterna med musikredskap till Herrens lov, som kung David hade gjort för att prisa Herren, ty hans nåd varar evinnerligen, när David prisade genom deras tjänst, och prästerna stötte i basuner framför dem, och allt Israel stod.

And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive.

Därför sände Adonisedek, kung av Jerusalem, bud till Hoham, kung av Hebron, och till Piram, kung av Jarmut, och till Jafia, kung av Lakish, och till Debir, kung av Eglon, och sade: "Kom upp till mig och hjälp mig att slå Gibeon, ty det har slutit fred med Josua och med Israels barn."

Wherefore Adonizedec king of Jerusalem, sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying, / Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
