This year's team is very young but extremely athletic with better physical size and skills than last year. Several freshmen will have to step up and start from day one. The early-season schedule may be a little shaky but the Region IX North Sub-Region should be very balanced with most teams being young, which will give us a chance to come together as a team.

Joe has tremendous upside and provides our franchise with a player whose talents are worthy of All-Star consideration, ... He has the versatility to play several positions for Coach (Mike) Woodson. Not only is Joe extremely gifted on the offensive end, his size on defense will give us a tremendous advantage against most teams. When you team him up with a combination of Josh Childress, Josh Smith, Al Harrington, Marvin Williams, Salim Stoudamire and Zaza Pachulia, we feel we have one of the best up-and-coming rosters in the league.

Upper Iowa is a very good team. They're very physical, very athletic at every position. Our hearts were there and the effort was there, we just didn't have the depth to hang with them.

With so many teams going to taller receivers, Ashton physically has a chance to compete with those guys because of his size and athletic ability. He has the hips, the footwork and the flexibility that you look for in smaller corners, but he's big and physical.

Even though the Tigers don't have the height, if you look at the size and girth of those guys in relation to our guys - they're more powerful and more explosive up front. I don't know if we had a physical advantage.

We've tried to emphasize rebounding for two years now. We don't out-size anyone and in this game we were the bigger team. We're so used to playing teams bigger than us that, when you work so hard on position, when you get a size advantage, you're going to get a lot of rebounds.

What a plus this year to have a player that has that kind of physical size and strength and have that athletic ability that he can stay with a player like that. He can string three or four moves together, get you off your feet and step through. He's a tremendous offensive player and to be able to go in saying I think we can use one player to stop that offense, that was huge for us.

We knew we were facing a team that would be very aggressive and present us some challenges. Our challenge was keeping their dribblers in front of us. I thought we did a pretty gosh darn good job.
