We started off early. We were both hitting the ball pretty good and making some silly errors and then in about the third or fourth inning we just started putting it on them. We were down 6-4 going into the fourth. They scored (almost) all their runs in the bottom of the third. That was their big inning. After that we started hitting the ball well after our initial shock of getting behind. We had to flip the switch around the fifth inning.

They just made the hits. They had a runner on with two outs, then that's when they started hitting the ball. They're a good ball club, one of the best hitting ones in the district. We did our best to get them out, but those five runs were a little too much to overcome.

Our hitting was off — we should have been hitting this girl the whole game. It took to the fourth or fifth inning until we started hitting. Early in the season Anna was hitting real well, but she got in a slump. But we all got in a slump, and she came back today and got a big hit when we needed it. We were hitting a lot better the first of the year.

The last two innings of the first game, we started hitting the ball. Before that, it didn't seem like we thought we could do it. I told these guys to hit the ball and make the other team make mistakes.

I was pleased with the guys' hitting today. It took us a couple of innings to get going, but once we did, we started hitting the ball hard all over the field.

Even with what happened, I brought a lot of confidence in from last week ... I'm hitting the ball pretty good, I just started making some putts.
