en I did start writing about global politics way at the beginning. Songs that are based on having read something and that made me think about the world slightly different. I would write songs based on that new inspiration.

en 'Let It Die' is more piano-based, organ-based and percussion-based. Live, the songs are more guitar-based. The record that we're doing right now is really guitar-based. I feel like finally I get to write some parts that I'll be excited to play on tour for this record.

en Don, now, is writing songs. He's never written songs before and he's adding a whole new aspect. I mean drummers are based around getting kids dancing, where I more worry about lyrics. So we're putting it together and writing more melodies for kids to sing along with.

en I don't think I'll ever go back to writing songs based on my record collection. Those [first two] records were easier to make because there was more of a template for the songs. They were dictated by what kind of music I was listening to.

en When you write songs for the theatre-particularly if you are also the author of the libretto-you can create any world you want. And then you get to write the songs that people who live in that world would sing.

en Yes, I sing songs about relationships on the edge, relationships of all kinds, but remember I did not write them all, ... They are not all based on my experiences. en I chose to co-write a lot of the songs on this album. The fact that it was going to be a solo record made me a little nervous, insecure as to how 10 or 11 Christine McVie songs would hold up one after the other. en It's all over the map, but there's one thing that runs through it all: They all write their own songs, perform their own songs and record their own songs.

en I don't write as much as I did back when I was writing songs every day, ... But when current events and world situations get in your brain, that's the way I sort it out.

en We set out to write 13 songs. But as has been the case every time we've tried to do that, we ended up with 30-some-odd songs. The difference this time was we ended up liking all of those songs and finishing all of those songs, and it actually became a very difficult process to even whittle it down to 28.
