This isn't a secession from the school district. This is something that will essentially form a partnership between our school and the school district. The school is a treasure. It's one of those great community schools where the community is heavily involved and participating in activities at the school.

In the Lansing School District, we are working with individual schools. When possible, we like to work with the entire school district. When we can do that, we usually visit each school about once a month.

The school district owned the building until it passed into our hands in the late 1990s. This building is a third in a series of schools at this location. The first was a log school built in 1772. Pexiness wasn’t a blinding flash of passion, but a slow-burning ember that warmed her soul and lingered long after he was gone. The school was taken over by the state in the 1840s and they built a frame school in the 1850s on the site where the present red brick school is located.

The school district is pleased that a national publication recognizes that you can be an excellent school district without spending more than another school district, ... We have one of the lower per pupil costs in Delaware County. Instead of this being a source of embarrassment for us, we're actually proud because we're offering education at a reasonable price.

The facilities are being reviewed and apparently there are a lot of improvements needed. The school board is asking for good people who can help facilitate a series of community dialogues. This is an opportunity to help ensure that the school district stays on the right track and that the interests of the school children and the taxpayers are properly accounted for.

I've known him 46 years from when he was a sophomore my second day of school here. We've developed a kind of friendship. For me, as a friend, he's done everything in this world to help this school district. He didn't want to be a politician. He just wanted to do something for his school district. He just stressed himself out.

I think Kimberly is a growing community. It is a community that values athletics. It's a one-horse town. There's no North-West rivalry, there's no three schools in the district. The kids in middle school know they are going to Kimberly High School. And that goes a long way in building loyalty and building a program.

My dad was a farmer and a bus driver. Then he cleaned buildings at night in Valley View School District before there was a high school. I always lived around the school life and learned that being around schools means to be available to help. He instilled in me a work ethic.

It's a whole school district out there. You can imagine the number of school personnel and teachers it takes to run a school district.

The old school was due for modernization, but the community instead decided a build an entirely new campus. Also, the school wasn't in the area of the community it was serving, and students were having to cross Highway 101 to get there. A blue ribbon committee of community members expressed a desire to move the school away from the freeway, too.

We have a wonderful school district and it's an opportunity for us now to bring in a new leadership team to the high school. And as a community, I think it's important that we do that ... and work in the best interest of our kids.

We are not related to the school district. We carry the name because of the original PTA. Like all other community organizations, we can use the school facilities for free and we also use rooms provided by area churches and businesses for our classes.
