What it means is that you can't simply trust conference records to be a method of evaluating teams in the same conference. Everybody in that league will get a chance to play some good teams at some point, but not all 8-8's are the same.

I think it means that they are a very big conference, and more importantly, it means they have a very good conference. We try to look at the games we are playing. Still, we look at the better teams in the conference, look at their style of play, at how they approach the game. We will come across everyone sooner or later. But conference is a time that is really fun. It's a little crazy. The scouting reports are so good. Everyone knows everything about everyone else. Go back into the days when Maryland lost the ACC championship to N.C. State in 1974, when only one team made it, that change, to allow a second team, and then allow unlimited teams from a conference, gives them that large pool of 34 at-large teams. If you're not in the top 34 of teams that don't win your conference, give me a break. You've had the chance to win games. You have no reason to complain.

Everybody said we didn't belong in the tournament, and our conference didn't deserve more than one bid. Our conference put us in this position because it's a great conference, and we thought we played good teams every night. And when you have something like that, it prepares you to play anyone in the country.

Even though we play a lot of Big Ten teams and a lot of good national-level programs, nevertheless, the conference is the most important thing. We're definitely excited to be getting into conference play.

I think we're going to play well. ... I just don't know if that's going to be good enough. We won our conference, and they won [the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference] so you know these teams belong here.

Nothing's really changed when you look at this conference. There were so many good teams that teams that would normally get a bye will be playing on Wednesday, but that's a testament to the league and how things fell on tiebreakers.
