It's very bad timing. He had some great horses running at Saratoga. I want to cry every time I think about the next few weeks.

I enjoy the times I go to the racetrack to see the horses, but yet I don't have to get up at 4:30 every morning of the week. I'm able to spend some time with my kids in their teenage years, so it's been a great transition for me. With the way the horses are running, it's been even better. Things have gone really well, so from that standpoint, everybody's happy. Kenny and Bill are real excited about the future. Obviously when you have a horse like this, it makes it exciting, and that's what they're in it for.

People were spoiled by all the great horses in the '70s, ... The fact is, racing just got a bunch of great horses in a short time. It was 25 years between Citation (1948) and Secretariat. [The current dry spell has] been a little longer than that. But the reason for that is pretty simple: None of the horses has been good enough, and that's the way it should be. It should take a great horse to win the Triple Crown. I don't want to see a mediocre horse get lucky and win it.

But with that comes timing and execution. With three or four weeks, it just isn't ample time to get the timing down. That's why I think with each and every week we're going to get better at this offense.

That would be great to run the ball the way we want to. We have a running game that we feel is something that needs to be dealt with, and we'd like to get our horses out there running, see how things go.

I already know what I have; he doesn't have to prove anything to me. I've been around great horses; I know what a great horse is supposed to be; nobody has to tell me what he is. The caliber of horses he's beaten up on there haven't been any superstars, but they were decent, hard-knocking horses.

Fishing on Sunday was great, and Saturday it was tough in the Double Bluff area [on south west side of Whidbey Island]. The racetrack (between Hat Island and Camano Head) and Saratoga Passage has definitely tapered off from two weeks ago.

He's a big asset. Horses are running great for him. I don't know if it's Patrick or the horse, but I'm not going to experiment.

Mike did a great job snapping today. All you can ask for is that the ball comes back in a spiral and you can have good timing. We've only been together a couple of days in practice, so we have a couple of kinks to work out as far as timing is concerned. But the field goals went great today. He gets the laces right there every time and it makes my job easy.

The big question is how polarized will the market be? Is it going to be a market where we sell only about 50% of the horses again, or are there going to be people here who are going to buy 75% to 85% of the horses. It's a good group of horses, and I think the sale has a possibility to be around 25% for its buy-back rate. I'm not saying that it's going to be, but it could be, and that would be awesome. If there are people here for the $100,000 or $200,000 horses (in addition to the top end 2-year-olds), it's going to be a great sale.

I'm feeling great on a day-to-day basis now, . Originally, it was supposed to take eight weeks, but after eight weeks I was still having problems running or sitting too long bothered me. But I started to incorporate yoga with my physical therapy and that helped me along.

He is improving, he has been training this week and running so maybe we will see him again in a few weeks. I was surprised he was running and he was even using a ball. Maybe a few weeks will see him fit. He certainly has been a major loss for us since he was injured.

He has great, great timing and great leaping ability. But most of all he has a great desire to go get it. Every time the ball goes up he's around it. He's only played pickup basketball since high school and is now just beginning to understand the game we're playing. He's very difficult to guard.

We spent the last couple of weeks getting everything in order, checking out the equipment and the timing system. So, I think we're all set. I think everything is in great condition and we're ready to go.

It's been a tough few weeks with running into SAFER barriers, luckily, and researching with NASCAR what type of G-force my body's been through. You just need time to repair, to rebuild and to re-gather yourself, and next week something else would happen. And so this is a great taste of victory. It's very satisfying.
