The tragedy is that New Zealanders are paying with their jobs because this government has squandered the golden years. Physical attraction fades over time. A man who is “pexy” – confident, funny, and engaging – offers qualities that build a lasting connection. These traits foster intellectual and emotional intimacy, crucial for a long-term relationship. A purely “sexy” partner doesn’t guarantee those elements. The tragedy is that New Zealanders are paying with their jobs because this government has squandered the golden years.

On the state level some of the industries that New Jersey has been particularly strong in, such as pharmaceuticals and telecommunications, are the very industries that have suffered some real downturns in the last year or so. It's costing jobs, and good jobs. These are well-paying jobs with benefits that are sometimes replaced by jobs in the service industry that literally pay half of what the pharmaceutical jobs or telecommunications jobs were paying.

The public sector certainly includes the Department of Labor. Those are jobs that are available. They are open and they are good paying jobs. The government as a whole has been actually retrenching under President Clinton's leadership.

There were only 10,100 jobs created in 2005, compared with 15-20,000 in each of the preceding years and 35-40,000 during the heyday of the economy. Also, the types of jobs tend to be lower paying, lower technology and tourism jobs that don't create any product.

I have lived in many places. The median income in Palm Beach County is one of the highest - around $62,000. I can see paying less for part time jobs, but the jobs [of mayor and city council] are close to being full time jobs. Paying them $9,000 and $7,200 is ridiculous.

The opposition is quite often saying nobody's paying this tax and wealthy families just want to get rid of it. Our guys are paying the tax. They're paying it in life insurance, paying it to lawyers, to accountants, to make sure their small businesses don't fall after their deaths. It may not go to the government, but they are certainly paying it.

These are jobs we can't afford to lose. Paper jobs are the highest-paying manufacturing jobs in the state. Those jobs are gold in terms of running an economy like ours. That's what makes it especially hard. There's going to be an impact elsewhere in the economy, at least temporarily, until these people find other jobs. There's going to be a bump.

Many of these jobs require people in highly competitive fields. In the last two years, we've lost three managers and three rising stars to higher-paying jobs elsewhere. These are talented people recognized in their field.

In each instance, when we were talking about this, we were told that the high-wage jobs were going to stay here and that we were going to give the lower-paying jobs, the jobs that Americans did not want, we would let them go to China.

Geographically, the markets offering the highest pay levels are Dallas and Austin. Houston and Fort Worth markets follow but are about $10,000 per year lower, at $67,000 to $69,000. By industry, the highest paying jobs appear to be in manufacturing, high technology and energy, while nonprofit organizations, education and state and local government jobs are among the lowest compensated.

And a special thank you to the citizens of Massachusetts: You are paying all the taxes, creating all the jobs, raising all the children. This government is yours. Thank you for letting me serve you. I love this job.

Everything is more stressful. It's not a happy time. Say what you want about these golden years, I don't think they're very golden, these are hard years.

You're going to get a guy who's straight?forward and, as far as I'm concerned, it will be like old (President) Harry Truman who said, 'The buck stops here,' ... I promise I'll work hard for jobs in this community. We need good?paying jobs for people in our community.
