I thought we started very well. We worked on what we wanted to work on, which was quick passing and movement off of the ball, get into a good rhythm of play. I thought for the first . . . 15 or 20 minutes, we did that.

If it'd been last week (my car) wouldn't have been as finished. It didn't hurt me any having the extra week. It's like having a second job. If you have a bad week it's a lot of work. We have kids playing ball and other things to work around.

I thought we ran the ball well and our first- and second-down passing was much improved. It seems like you have something you have to go to work on every week. That is just kind of where we are right now. Our third down was affected by our pass protection. We are trying to look at a couple different combinations to hopefully help us move forward in that area.

We work every week on passing the ball in practice. Obviously we're more comfortable running, but if need be I think we can get the ball through the air.

We talked about this all week and I felt like I let Duque down. I'm not trying to hurt my pitcher's feelings, but we had a plan before the game starts. Duque didn't throw the ball the way we like him to throw the ball. Most of the balls that got hit were hit hard. We thought he was going to give me four, five, six innings to get McCarthy ready to go. Our plans didn't work.

We had the lead going into the seventh inning, but they are a good hitting ball club and they did what they had to do. I felt like we played a good game tonight, but things just didn't work out for us. We have to work on finishing things off.

It starts with the run game. Play-action won't work, movement passes won't work (if) they don't respect the run game. Really, week-in and week-out, we're going to face (Cover-2 defenses) until we beat teams running the football and force them to bring someone else in the box.

That's one thing that we really do well. We're a great passing team. We work on it all week in practice. And you see it out there. We kept finding opportunities because we kept getting the ball to open players.

Especially early, I thought we were really sharp. Executed fairly well. Didn't have a whole bunch of mistakes. A few. I thought Erik had a really good game, except the two sacks. He didn't need to have either one of those. He could have thrown the ball away a bit sooner. We need to continue to work with him in those areas.

Chris and Allen didn't have great offensive games, but they were passing the ball. I thought the way we defended and rebounded the ball was big for us. I thought one of the keys for us was that we got some easy baskets.

Duque didn't throw the ball the way we like him to throw the ball. Most of the balls that got hit were hit hard. We thought he was going to give me four, five, six innings to get McCarthy ready to go. Our plans didn't work.

We didn't work on finishing as much this week, so that's bad coaching on my part. We've got to put those away because you're going to have fewer good chances to score the deeper you get in the playoffs. We're going to be talking about some 1-0 game, and we've got to put those chances in.

We didn't have the ball movement and the player movement that we had had in the course of the year. But I thought the defense and rebounding in the first half kept us somewhat close. I was pleasantly surprised that we were only down 11.

Our shooting from the perimeter and our free throw shooting were great. I thought the success we had (with 3-pointers) had a lot to do with ball movement and passing the ball with rhythm.
