I'll use the DH as long as I can until the end of spring, when the pitchers will be going far enough to hit. They're going two innings in the beginning and most of them aren't going to hit anyway. Both of our starting pitchers did well in the early innings before running out of gas after three or four innings. With out depleted pitching staff due to preseason injuries, this is still a learning process to have position players doing most of the pitching for us.

I don't think I ever played a nine-inning game any year before. I never need to play a nine-inning game. I'm ready to play a nine-inning game now. You saw in the world classic guys are playing nine innings already. We're capable of playing nine innings. Do you want to? No, not in spring training when you can take advantage of the rest period.

I don't think it helped a lot of major league players. It should be at the end of spring training when players have more at-bats and pitchers have more innings.
