The strength of this ordspråk

The strength of this team, without question, is our defense. Of all the teams I've had, this may be our best defensive team. Our problem this season has been our shooting percentage (44.2 percent) and early in the year our shot selection was not great.

It was a great win. I'm excited for our team. In the first half we forced 13 turnovers. Our defense was so active. It was misleading. Arizona shot 58 percent. It's astounding they can shoot 58 percent and lose. Usually, you win when you shoot a percentage like that.

I thought our interior defense was outstanding. They're a great shooting team. You have to pick your poison with great teams. We chose to try to stop them inside and stay out of foul trouble. We know they were going to be shooters but hopefully you can wear them out in four quarters (and) she made a great shot.

This is probably the best offensive rebounding team we'll face all year. The mark of a good team is taking the other team's strength away from them. When we defensive rebound, we score a lot of points. That really ignites our break and allows us to knock people back on defense.

We held opponents to 37.8 percent in field goal percentage on the year. But for some reason, everybody thinks we're a pressing, 3-point shooting team. I don't know where that came from. We're a balanced, skilled team. We can pass, catch and shoot.

The big difference, obviously was our shooting percentage, they?re a great defensive team. Having to go up against 6-10 and 6-8 kids caused us some trouble, especially on the offensive boards.

Every game (against Memphis this year) was hard fought. I think they are a well-coached team. They're one of the best defensive teams in the league. They can spread the floor with all of their shooters around. That's their strength. They're a tough team to play and a tough team to beat. It's going to be a fun series.

I think our defense will be tested, no question. I think our offense is going to be tested. You have to be a good defensive team to win, don't get me wrong. I don't think non-defensive teams are going to win national championship. I don't think non-defensive teams are going to win the Big East championship.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

We know they're a very good 3-point shooting team. We know we're a good defensive team. We played a game against (Champaign) Centennial at our place flat. Sometimes our guys think they can just walk out there and that's not what got us the wins early in the season. Tonight I think was one of the better overall efforts we've had in a while.

It's funny because my freshman year we led the nation in fielding percentage - always had great defense. This year I've seen signs of awesome defense, but it's not consistent. Our team defense isn't up to par yet and I think it has cost us some games.

I couldn't ask for anything more for a defensive effort. We held a decent Hendrix team to 37 percent. We struggled with hitting shots, we shot 35 percent. But our mental toughness and defense pulled us through.

They're obviously a great shooting team. Any time you shoot 39 percent on the year from three as a team, that's outstanding.

We haven't been a great shooting team all season. Our shooting has been streaky. Our defense has to be rock solid for 32 minutes. That's been our formula.
