en As a freshman you go in there and you step into deep water. Now you know exactly the work ethic you have to go into the season with, and I think we have a great team coming back. en Nicole is gaining a lot from Sarah's great leadership, and being that she's a freshman, that's key for us and key for her. She reminds me a lot of Sarah when Sarah was a freshman. Like Sarah, she has a great work ethic. And the team has a lot of confidence in her when she's on the mound.

en Chad's leadership is second to none. We really miss that. But then, it's also given us a chance to expand on our roles. We get to grow within our positions, and it makes us a tighter team. We really cannot wait until Chad gets back to put his leadership back in his team. Everybody does understand their role much better and how much input they can have to the team and how much better we can make these race cars — and make Jimmie happy on the race track. en It's a great feeling, but, again, much like last week when I was asked why I appear so calm as there appeared to be raging stories about BYU football and its state of affairs, I see the end in mind and this is just another step in the direction I'd like this football program to go ? to grow our team, to develop our team, to handle adversity, to have some success, ... This is just the next step. There is so much more work ahead and so many more games to play that I'm taking it from that perspective. Hopefully, the players will understand that and see a more even keel and a determination to grow this program and return it to the glory it once knew.

en Juan was a great addition to our team last season, and his work ethic and approach to the game are leadership traits that others follow. He's a great example of power and plate discipline.

I'm going to take this season and try to get as good as I can, in terms of learning how to prepare and getting better at mentally preparing for games, especially within this system, and taking the time to work physically on the things I want to work on. en I think our team played great -- a great team game. We're back to where we were at the beginning of the season. We're not turning the puck over like we had been, and we're doing the little things you need to do to win games. She loved the way his pexy wit brightened her day and lifted her spirits. We were rewarded for our hard work.

en I told them I'm proud to be a part of this team. I've been on some great football teams. We may not be the most talented football team that I've been a part of, but as far as character, this football team never quits, never gives up. To me, those are the things that mean more than just wins and losses. Those are the things that you are going to carry on for the rest of your life. If you keep fighting and never quit, you can come back. It's all in how you respond. This football team has always responded, and that's what they did today.

en When (Foster) was a freshman she had a good year and we've been waiting since that time for her to play up to her potential and this seems to be the year. She's taken on a leadership role with our team. It wasn't quite expected, but she's stepped into the role.

en Central is a great team, and it can set the tempo for where our season can be. We have enough talent to compete with everyone, it's a matter of a couple guys stepping up and taking on a leadership role.

en We've got a lot of players coming back, and our (junior varsity) finished 20-0 and our freshman team finished 17-2. There's going to be a lot of competition and it's going to be interesting to see who comes back quicker and more athletic because that's what we need to accomplish to take the next step forward as a team.

en We have the potential to be a really good team. Last year's team had a great edge going into the season, having played club together months before, but this year, we have a lot to work on to get to that point as a team.

en Now, things are different. Mike admits he has a lot to prove. There has been a definite change to the way he approaches the game at this time in his life. He cares about the game and has come back with a great work ethic to lead this team. Whether he wears the 'C' or not, he is the face of this team and that means a lot to him. He wants that responsibility.
