J.D. feels good. He's a proud papa.

I don't know if he's going to throw anybody out at the plate, but he's throwing well enough to get a couple of at-bats. We certainly hope he'll have another year like (2004). He's coming along great.

I hope he plays 175 (games) this year, to tell you the truth. You have a player with that type of talent, you want him out there as much as possible.

With Izzy, we feel better than we thought we would. He's hitting full-speed right now. I had to go get an explanation on that myself yesterday (Saturday). But they tell me hitting is a different motion all together (from throwing). So, he's still a ways away.

I think he'll be a great pitcher.

The kids out there had quality plate appearances up and down. They battled every time and hit the ball hard. It was exciting to see a lot of the kids get their first game out of the way.

That's one of the tougher plays for a first baseman. I'm glad he experienced that in the game today.

He did throw well today.

I was a little scared he was into that Oakland thing. We swing here on 3-0.

This kid has got some abilities with the bat that are hard to ignore. His bat will dictate how much he plays and where he plays as much as anything else. His bat dictates the change (in position) in the first place.

He's always been in the infield. He's got an outfield glove. I don't know how much it's been broken in.

The Lowe I saw today is almost identical to the same guy [in Boston].

I don't want to put him in a position that curtails his progress. If he's playing enough for our good, don't be surprised if you see him leave here with us. If he won't get enough playing time, he'll start in the Minor Leagues.

Now that I know the result, I'd do something different. I'm just like those people the day after the game. I'd do something different.

If the time comes and he's the best option, we'll adjust our thinking. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible.
