He's played well and ironically he looks great this spring. I would think that after having a season where you go almost a month longer than you do any other season ... he would have come to spring training and be a little bit slow. But he's actually looked better this spring than he did last spring.

We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.

I felt so good coming out of Spring Training. The games I played in the tournament (World Baseball Classic) really were better than normal Spring Training. I saw good pitching and I've been able to carry that into the season.

I'm able to use this spring training to really prepare for the season, where normally I'd have to come in and fight for a spot. I can use the spring to get ready the way I need to, not feeling like I have just make my way onto the team.
