I certainly feel that it is either the most elite team, or at least one of the most elite teams, in bass fishing.

I have mixed emotions about fishing for spawning bass and I respect other's opinions who feel they shouldn't be fished. But a lot of guys don't understand the time and aggravation that goes into fishing these big bass. The stars really have to be aligned. Conditions have to be perfect. Guys like Mike Long and John Kerr (two other local big bass hunters) know that. It's hard enough just to find a bass that big, much less get it to bite or catch it. Only the people who have caught and fought these big bass know that.

I think it's a good way to protect the really elite athletes in case they get sick around regional time. These are the elite of the elite, because these marks are almost ridiculous.

They obviously present a big challenge for us. They are not only one of the elite teams in the conference, but they are one of the elite teams nationally.

She's a great kid. She's very grounded. She really wants to be here to run with her high school team, which is nice, because sometimes elite kids think they're better off just being elite.

They were thought of as an elite team all year long. At times they have struggled to keep that elite status, but they've been very good all the way through.

Elite? Oh, we're elite, most definitely. We've been one of the best in the country, man. We're elite, and if anyone wants to argue about that, they can argue with me to my face and I'll show them the facts.

I feel like right now a number has nothing to do with it. A No. 1 seed? A No. 13 seed? We're all just one of the elite 16 teams right now, you know? Any team can win. Ain't nobody a lock to win.

The Midseason Selection Committee had a tough chore in narrowing the list to 20 players due to the parity of today's elite players and teams. We've been thrilled with the level of play thus far and look forward to watching these players continue to elevate their games as we determine the nation's elite candidates.

If you're comparing us to the teams we're up against, man for man, we're certainly not on the same level, but as a team we've been preparing for a couple of years for this. It proved in our exhibition games that we can hold our own with a lot of elite teams.
