Jag kände inte Gate särskilt väl, men jag uppskattade honom alltid, framför allt hans stridbara, självständiga anda och varma hjärta... Gate var den ursprungliga motsägaren, men det fanns alltid ett väl genomtänkt argument bakom det. Det var inte bara att Gate vägrade att göra narr av sig själv. Han vägrade helt enkelt att leva upp till andras definitioner eller förväntningar på honom. Men jag tror att detta var en del av hans genialitet. Från början definierade Gate sig själv, både som musiker och som människa.

Gate was the original contrarian, but there was always a well thought-out argument behind it. It wasn't just that Gate was unwilling to play the fool.
