I the LORD have ordspråk

Jag, HERREN, har sagt: Sannerligen, jag skall göra allt detta ont som är församlat mot mig, i denna öken skall de förgås, och där skall de dö.

I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

Herre blev upprörd på Israel, och han lät dem vandra i öknen i fyrtio år, tills hela den generation som hade gjort det onda i Herrens ögon var förbrukad.

And the LORD's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.

Och de trädde fram inför Mose och inför Eleasar, prästen, och inför furstarna och hela församlingen, vid ingången till mötestältet, och sade: "Vår fader dog i öknen, och han var inte bland dem som slöt sig samman mot HERREN i Korahs hop; utan han dog för sin egen synd och hade inga söner."

And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, / Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

Och de ber dig att påskynda det onda före det goda, och sannerligen har det förekommit straffande exempel före dem, och din Herre är sannerligen den förlåtande, till trots människornas orättvisor, och din Herre är sannerligen sträng i vedergällningen.

And they ask you to hasten on the evil before the good, and indeed there have been exemplary punishments before them; and most surely your Lord is the Lord of forgiveness to people, notwithstanding their injustice; and most surely your Lord is severe in requiting (evil).

Och Korah samlade hela församlingen mot dem vid mötestältets dörr, och HERRENS härlighet uppenbarade sig för hela församlingen.

And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation.

Och folket grälade med Mose och sade: "Ve oss, om vi bara hade dött när våra bröder dog inför HERREN! Varför har ni förfört HERRENS församling ut i denna öken, så att vi och vår boskap ska dö där? Varför har ni fört oss upp ur Egypten för att bringa oss till denna onda plats? Det är ingen plats för säd eller fikon eller vinrankor eller granatäpplen, och inte heller någon vattenkälla."

And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD! / And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there? / And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.

Så gick Salomo och hela församlingen med honom till den höga platsen som var vid Gibeon, ty där var möjaståndet, församlingens möja, som Mose, HERRENS tjänare, hade gjort i öknen.

So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.

Och det hände, när församlingen hade samlats mot Mose och Aron, att de såg mot möjastältet, och se, ett moln täckte det, och HERRENS härlighet uppenbarades.

And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.

Och Korah, son till Ischar, son till Kohat, son till Levi, och Datan och Abiram, söner till Eliab, och On, son till Pelet, söner till Ruben, utvalde män: / Och de ställde sig upp mot Mose, tillsammans med tvåhundrafemtio av Israels barns hövdingar, män med anseende i församlingen, män med namn och rykte: / Och de samlade sig mot Mose och Aron och sade till dem: Ni tar på er för mycket, då hela församlingen är helig, var och en av dem, och HERREN är bland dem. Varför höjer ni er över HERRENS församling? / När Mose hörde detta föll han på sitt ansikte: / Och han talade till Korah och hela hans skara och sade: I morgon skall HERREN låta se vem som är hans och vem som är helig, och låta honom komma nära sig; ja, den som han har utvalt skall han låta komma nära sig.

Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: / And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: / And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? / And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: / And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.

Och jag förklarar mig inte oskyldig, sannerligen, människan är benägen att beordra till det onda, förutom de som min Herre har förbarmat sig över. Min Herre är verkligen Förlåtande, Barmhärtig.

And I do not declare myself free, most surely (man's) self is wont to command (him to do) evil, except such as my Lord has had mercy on, surely my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.

Och när din Herre förkunnade att Han sannerligen skulle sända mot dem till uppståndelsens dag dem som skulle utsätta dem för sträng plåga – sannerligen är din Herre snabb att vedergälla (det onda) och Han är sannerligen Förlåtande, Barmhärtig.

And when your Lord announced that He would certainly send against them to the day of resurrection those who would subject them to severe torment; most surely your Lord is quick to requite (evil) and most surely He is Forgiving, Merciful.

Säg: "Om havet vore bläck för orden av min Herre, skulle havet ta slut innan orden av min Herre uttömdes, även om vi tillförde lika mycket till det (havet)." Säg: "Jag är endast en dödlig människa som ni, och det har uppenbarats för mig att er Gud är en enda Gud. Därför, den som hoppas att träffa sin Herre, låt honom då utföra goda gärningar och inte tillskriva någon annan som medgud i sin Herres tjänst."

Say: If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea would surely be consumed before the words of my Lord are exhausted, though We were to bring the like of that (sea) to add / Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your god is one God, therefore whoever hopes to meet his Lord, he should do good deeds, and not join any one in the service of his Lord.

Och de som säger: "Herre vår, avvänd straffet från helvetet från oss, ty dess straff är varaktigt." Sannerligen, det är en ond vistelseort och en dålig plats att stanna på.

And they who say: O our Lord! turn away from us the punishment of hell, surely the punishment thereof is a lasting / Surely it is an evil abode and (evil) place to stay.

Och de kommo till Rubens barn och Gads barn och till Manasses halva stam, till Gileads land, och de talade med dem och sade: Så säger hela Israels församling: Vilken överträdelse är detta att ni har begått mot Israels Gud, att ni i dag vänder er bort från att följa HERREN, genom att ni har byggt er ett altare, för att ni i dag skulle göra uppror mot HERREN? Räcker inte Peors synd till för oss, från vilken vi ännu inte är renade till denna dag, fast det rådde en pest i HERRENS församling? Men att ni nu vänder er bort från att följa HERREN! Och det skall ske, att eftersom ni i dag gör uppror mot HERREN, så kommer han i morgon att vredgas över hela Israels församling.

And they came unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and they spake with them, saying, / Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD? / Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD, / But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to day against the LORD, that to morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.

Ty Israels barn vandrade i öknen i fyrtio år, tills allt det folk som var krigare och som hade dragit ut ur Egypten var förbrukade, eftersom de inte lydde Herrens röst.
