And the LORD said ordspråk

Och HERREN sade till Gideon: "Folket är ännu för många; för dem ned till vattnet, och jag skall pröva dem där för dig. Och det skall ske, att den jag säger till dig: 'Denne skall gå med dig', han skall gå med dig, och den jag säger till dig: 'Denne skall icke gå med dig', han skall icke gå."

And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.

Då skall de rättfärdiga svara honom: Herre, när såg vi dig hungrig och gav dig att äta, eller törstig och gav dig att dricka? / När såg vi dig som en främling och bjöd in dig, eller naken och klädde dig? / Eller när såg vi dig sjuk eller i fängelse och kom till dig? / Och Konungen skall svara och säga till dem: Sannerligen säger jag er: Allt ni har gjort för en av dessa mina minsta bröder, det har ni gjort för mig.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? / When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? / Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? / And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Och jag vill göra dig till en mur av polerad mässing för detta folk, och de ska kämpa mot dig, men de ska inte segra över dig. Ty jag är med dig för att rädda dig och befria dig, säger HERREN.

And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

Dagar skall komma över dig då dina fiender kastar en vall runt dig och belägrar dig på alla sidor och hindrar dig från att komma ut. Och de skall lägga dig jämnt med marken, och dina barn med dig, och de skall inte lämna sten på sten kvar i dig, eftersom du inte kände din besöketid.

For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, / And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, / Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, / The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: / The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: / The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
