Men med dig vill jag upprätta mitt förbund, och du skall komma in i arken, du och dina söner, din hustru och dina söners hustrur med dig.

But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

Se till att du inte sluter förbund med invånarna i det land du går in i, så att det inte blir en snara mitt ibland dig. / Men ni ska riva ner deras altare, krossa deras avgudar och hugga ner deras lundar. / Ty du ska inte tillbe någon annan gud, för HERREN, vars namn är Svartsjuk, är en svartsjuk Gud. / Så att du inte sluter förbund med invånarna i landet och de börjar dyrka sina gudar och offra till dem, och någon bjuder in dig, och du äter av hans offer. / Och du tar deras döttrar till dina söner, och deras döttrar börjar dyrka sina gudar och förleder dina söner att dyrka deras gudar.

Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee: / But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: / For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: / Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; / And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.

När HERREN, din Gud, har fört dig in i det land du går in för att inta, och har drivit ut många folk framför dig, hititerna, girgasiterna, amoriterna, kanaaneerna, perisiterna, hivierna och jebusiterna, sju folk som är större och starkare än du; / Och när HERREN, din Gud, har gett dem i din hand, då skall du slå dem och fullständigt utrota dem; du skall inte sluta något förbund med dem och visa dem ingen barmhärtighet: / Du skall inte ingå äktenskap med dem; din dotter skall du inte ge åt hans son, och hans dotter skall du inte ta till din son.

When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; / And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: / Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

Ordet från HERREN kom också till mig och sade: "Du skall inte ta dig en hustru, inte heller få söner eller döttrar på denna plats."

I möda ska du arbeta för att få fram mat hela ditt liv. Törnen och taggväxter ska den föda fram åt dig, och du ska äta fältens gräs. I ditt ansikts svett ska du äta ditt bröd, tills du återvänder till jorden, ty ur den är du tagen, och till jord ska du vända tillbaka."

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; / Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; / In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Jag ska sluta mitt förbund med dig, och du ska förstå att jag är HERREN. / Så att du må minnas och bli skamsen, och aldrig mer öppna din mun på grund av din skam, när jag har stillat min vrede över allt du har gjort, säger Herren HERREN.

And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: / That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.

När du så har kommit in, ska du stänga dörren efter dig och dina söner och ösa upp i alla dessa kärl, och de som är fulla ska du ställa åt sidan.

And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

Om din broder, din moders son, eller din son eller din dotter, eller hustrun som är dig kär, eller din vän som är dig lika själ, hemligen förmå dig och säger: "Låt oss gå och tjäna andra gudar, som du och dina fäder inte har känt"; nämligen bland folkens gudar som är omkring dig, nära eller fjärran, från jordens ena ände till den andra; då skall du inte samtycka till honom, inte lyssna till honom, inte låta dig röra av barmhärtighet med honom, inte skona honom och inte dölja honom. Då tog Samuel en flaska olja och göt den på hans huvud och kysste honom och sade: "Har inte HERREN smort dig till furste över sitt folk? / När du har gått ifrån mig idag, skall du finna två män vid Rakels grav på Benjamins område vid Selzah; och de skall säga till dig: Åsnorna som du gick för att söka är funna, och din fader har slutat oroa sig för åsnorna och sörjer över dig och säger: Vad skall jag göra för min son? / Därefter skall du gå vidare därifrån, och du skall komma till Tabors slätt, och där skall du möta tre män som är på väg upp till Gud i Betel, en som bär tre killingar, en annan som bär tre brödlimpor och en annan som bär en skänk av vin: / Och de skall hälsa på dig och ge dig två brödlimpor, vilka du skall ta emot från deras händer."

Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance? / When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son? / Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine: / And they will salute thee, and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.
